Our cookie and local storage practices are further described in the cookie notice on the main page.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use your information for the following purposes:
- To provide and operate the Service – including running mock interviews, generating feedback, saving your history and enabling account features.
- To improve the Service – such as analysing anonymised or aggregated usage patterns to refine questions, feedback quality and product performance.
- To communicate with you – about your account, security issues, feature updates, billing (where applicable) and support requests.
- To maintain safety and integrity – including detecting abuse, fraud or security issues.
- To comply with legal obligations – for example, responding to lawful requests from authorities where we are legally required to do so.
We do not share your mock interview recordings or detailed feedback with employers or recruiters.
3. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK Users)
Where applicable (for example, if you are in the EEA or UK), we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract – providing the Service you sign up for.
- Legitimate interests – such as improving and securing the Service, provided these interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent – for certain optional uses (e.g. cookies, marketing emails) where required by law.
- Compliance with legal obligations – where we must retain or disclose data under applicable law.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information in the following limited ways:
- Service providers and subprocessors – trusted vendors who help us operate the Service (e.g. cloud hosting, video processing, AI model providers, analytics). They only process your data on our instructions and under confidentiality obligations.
- Legal and safety reasons – if we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process or governmental request; to protect the security or integrity of the Service; or to protect the rights, property or safety of Mockera, our users or others.
- Business transfers – in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.
Where possible, we use aggregation, pseudonymisation or anonymisation to reduce privacy risk when sharing data with third parties.
5. International Data Transfers
We may process and store your information in countries outside of your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country.
Where required by law, we implement appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms) to protect your personal data when it is transferred internationally.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, and comply with our legal obligations.
- Account and profile data are kept while your account is active.
- Mock interview recordings, transcripts and feedback are stored so you can revisit them, until you delete them or your account, or until we no longer need them for the purposes described.
- Log and security data may be kept for a limited period after account closure for security, fraud prevention and legal compliance.
When we no longer need data for the purposes described, we will delete it or anonymise it so that it can no longer be linked back to you.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access – request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification – request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.

- Portability – request a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used and machine‑readable format where technically feasible.
- Object – object to our processing where we rely on legitimate interests or direct marketing.
- Withdraw consent – where we process data based on your consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@mockera.app. We may need to verify your identity before responding to your request.

9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration. However, no online service can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and you use the Service at your own risk.
You are responsible for keeping your account password confidential and for restricting access to your devices.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal data without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.
